Randy is a marriage and family therapist who has been trained in Bowen family systems theory and family psychotherapy at The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, D.C. Randy is Living Systems" director of training and research and a registered clinical counsellor.

"I seek to help families reduce their anxiety and to understand the part each person plays in problems so they can work on it."

Mary Frost, M.S., RCC, Registered Play Therapist

Mary is a registered clinical counsellor in British Columbia and a registered play therapist in Canada and the U.S. She is also a national board certified counsellor in the U.S. She worked for West Coast Alternatives for 13 years with children impacted by sustance misuse. She opened a private practice in 1998 devoted to the needs of children aged three to twelve and their families. Knowledge of family systems and child development informs her clinical work with adults. She provides clinical supervision and consultation in play therapy and is developing a course on the child in the family from a Bowen perspective.
"I am intrigued by the attachment process between mother and child and I enjoy working with young children. Play therapy gives parents insight into their child's struggles and it helps them develop more effective strategies in their parenting style."

Jean Howson, M.P.S., RCC

Jean began her career as a registered nurse in South Africa and gained additional experience in London and New York. While raising four children, Jean furthered her studies and became a clinical counsellor. She arrived in Canada with her family in 1994. Since her internship and residency in the Living Systems Post-Graduate Training Program in 1988, Jean has worked as a counsellor.

"When you become unbalanced, problems arise. That"s why I believe in attending to the body, mind and spirit. I find it exciting to watch people become calm and thoughtful and consequently make better choices for themselves and their lives."

Margaret Anne Speak, B.A., M.A., CCC

As a palliative care nurse, Margaret Anne watched families struggle with death. With an interest in family dynamics, she pursued a masters degree in counselling psychology. Since completing Living Systems Post-Graduate Training Program, Margaret Anne has practised family systems theory with individuals, couples and families.

"Systems therapy offers the individual a way of exploring the family dynamics that wire us for the world. It offers, too, an opportunity to alter that wiring and to enter into a more open, honest and effective way of relating to the important people in our life."

Lois Walker, B.N., M.Div., RCC

Lois is a registered nurse and has a Master of Divinity. She spent many years in cancer and palliative care before becoming a registered clinical counsellor in 1990. Lois has completed four years of post-graduate training at The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, D.C.

Devana Weiss, BA, MA, RCC

Devana is a registered clinical counsellor, with a background in career transition and administration. Through her experiences with transitioning individuals and events in her personal life, she became interested in relationship dynamics and the emotional component of life transitions. She eventually returned to school to complete a Masters degree in counselling. Since then she has taken advanced training in family systems theory and therapy, completing a three-year-post graduate training program. 

"I am committed to helping people make lasting changes in their lives. I seek to create and foster a learning environment within a systems perspective wherein people gain awareness and understanding around challenges in their lives; I then coach people as they work to change their thinking and behavior."

Dave has advanced training in family systems theory and therapy and has completed three years of the Clinical Training Program in Family Systems Theory and Therapy. He has extensive experience in business and leadership.
